How to choose the right container from the Berberis family?

Large-capacity window boxes UNO, DUO, TRIO The largest containers in the Berberis family – made for ambitious growers. The Duo holds 2 × 18 litres of substrate and up to 18 litres of water; the Trio offers even more space. Plenty of room for fruit shrubs, smaller trees or abundant vegetable plantings. Sturdy wheels and handles make repositioning easy – particularly useful when you need to follow the sun or clear some space.

Round containers for large plants – Berberis 46 and Berberis 55 For trees, palms, citrus, roses or hydrangeas. The ring-shaped watering system lets you top up water from any side and delivers it straight to the roots. They work equally well on a terrace or indoors – for a large ficus, for example.

Smaller round containers – Berberis 30 and 26 More compact options for smaller shrubs, perennials or herbs. A great starting point for those new to gardening – space-saving, easy to maintain and simple to move as needed.

The updated range brings two practical improvements. Better UV stabilisation extends the lifespan of the colours – containers withstand the sun and won't fade even after several seasons. New drainage openings with plugs make it easy to empty the reservoir before heavy rain or at the end of the season, when it's time to prepare for winter.

What to look out for when choosing?

The reservoir capacity determines how long the container can go without refilling. The larger the plant and the warmer the location, the faster the water is used. An overflow outlet is standard on all outdoor Berberis containers – excess water after rain drains away safely. Don't fill the reservoir to maximum – most plants need to dry out between waterings. Water should be topped up only when the level indicator shows minimum. Wintering – before the first frost, it's a good idea to empty the reservoir. With the new collection, just open the drainage plug.
